Lauren Barnhart is a Partner at Posey Legal, P.C. She grew up in Tacoma, Washington, with her mother, three brothers, and a village of aunts and uncles. She learned at an early age the value of hard work and creative solutions to seemingly insurmountable obstacles, lessons she relies on today that help her in the practice of law and client problem-solving.
Ms. Barnhart earned a full music scholarship to a four-year university, was the principal bassoonist in the Tacoma Youth Symphony where she had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, and she later co-founded her university’s female acapella group. She still plays several musical instruments and grabs the microphone every chance she gets.
Ms. Barnhart focuses on serving individuals in her own community. The practice of family law allows her the opportunity to help families navigate through what may be the most difficult time of their lives. Estate planning and probate give her the chance to use her legal skills and compassion to help those dealing with end-of-life issues that are sometimes troublesome to discuss.
She practices law with integrity and compassion. She believes that when working with families the best outcomes are not measured by winners and losers, but by equitable solutions and child-focused results. Although she does maintain a successful and active litigation practice, she will first explore all opportunities for settlement to avoid litigation.
Ms. Barnhart comes from a modest background and appreciates the price tag that comes with legal services. Her goal is to always reach the most equitable outcome as expeditiously and efficiently as possible. She will not work with clients who are out for blood, and will not engage in frivolous filings or use tactics that will needlessly cause the parties to rack up attorney fees.
Ms. Barnhart believes in the importance of building and maintaining relationships. You can feel confident when working with her that she will always conduct herself with integrity.

Lauren’s favorite thing about her adopted hometown of Portland is the abundance of year-round outdoor activities and its proximity to so many diverse terrains to explore.
She also loves to take advantage of the local food scene, the vast array of breweries and urban wineries, eco-conscious transportation otpions, self-sufficient neighborhoods, and the lively alternative music scene.
On the weekend, you will find her wine-tasting, camping, hiking, kayaking, and exploring the Northwest with her partner and two dogs. She enjoys karaoke and is a big fan of board games and card games. She is always looking for more folks who know how to play pinochle.
