Too often, family law clients find themselves immersed in adversarial court litigation without being given the opportunity to choose a different path. While there are many different ways to resolve family law issues without litigation, a disproportionately large number of cases are thrust into the adversarial process before the clients are given the chance to weigh other options which might be a better fit for their family.
In 2019, Joanna Posey founded Posey Legal, P.C. to address this problem, ensuring clients are educated about available process options and empowered to make the right choice based on the needs of their unique family. The approach is holistic, looking at issues not only from a legal perspective, but also considering practical, emotional, and long-term financial outcomes.
Shortly after founding the firm, Jo began transitioning her own practice away from traditional litigation, focusing almost exclusively on mediation, Collaborative Divorce, and cooperative dispute resolution. Recognizing that litigation is both valuable and necessary in many cases, she teamed up with like-minded colleague and experienced trial attorney Lauren Barnhart. Lauren’s practice includes family law litigation, mediation support, estate planning, and probate litigation.
In 2020, Jo and Lauren welcomed attorney Cambell Boucher to the Posey Legal, PC team. Cambell’s practice includes family law litigation, legal consulting services, and mediation support. Jo, Lauren, and Cambell are supported by their amazing legal support staff—Kerry Wheeler, Jordan Oakes, and Josh Gilchrist.
